Last month we had launched our closed beta for Legion in order to prepare for the official launch on Firestorm. The purpose of the closed beta was to test classes, new features of Legion, the areas of Broken Isles and basic mechanical stuff.
At the start of the launch, all classes weren't available at the start of the launch (and still not all classes are). We have gradually worked on this to make sure most classes are available today. Progress has been made on the implementation of spells and fixes for major problems with the spells. We will unblock the creation of the other classes that aren't available during the week. So we will keep the momentum going and correct spells. In addition to all the work on spells, we rewrote some major systems such as glyphs, talents, objects, etc.
Regarding the new features of Legion and particularly the areas of scaling, it's now fully functional. We published a video where you could get a glimpse of this feature in action. Since we've implemented the scaling on quest rewards and loot, items obtained will properly adapt to your level. We've done majors fixes on artifacts weapons thanks your feedback. We still have to implement power artifact system. The class halls' system is fully functional however we will continue to work on it.
Regarding the new areas, Azsuna area is fully functional, we've made many fixes to that area. As for the Demon Hunters starting area, we'll continue to improve that. Our goal is to provide quality content for Legion. We will work on a new area of Broken Isles in order to achieve our goal: reach level 110 without having to kill the chain of monsters, but realizing the consequences of questing instead. We have implemented a new feature of Legion that will guarantee you a better questing experience. With this feature we'll set up personal loot system, this one will allow you to get a quest item regardless of other players that fight the mob.
Regarding the PvP and PvE content, we have started to work on the first dungeon on Legion and they should be implemented within the week to spend time in the testing phase. Regarding the new content PvP, we'll implement them soon in order to test them. We still have to implement PvP talents and rewards from arenas and battlegrounds.
Of course, we haven't forgotten the systems we already have on our Warlords of Draenor realm: the predefined groups, looking for group and raid, battle pets, toys, items, etc! They have been updated and adapted to Legion. These things will be represented in Legion. Legion will be a continuation of our Warlords of Draenor realms.
For Legion, we have decided to only open one realm. However, to be able to achieve this, we needed to optimize the server, and that's what we've done! We achieved many significant enhancements, conducted various tests with bots and we're able to reach 5000 connected players without any latency issues. In addition, we've tested 7000 and got the same result with low latency (these tests were carried out with bots, they don't necessarily translate into actual conditions despite our efforts to simulate it). We'll test these optimizations' on a live realm, to test it in the most realistic conditions as possible. We will continue to correct various crashes that occur and wow errors. Last but not least, we'll add the ticket system as we have on Warlords of Draenor and Mists of Pandaria.
You can see that we've made good progress on this closed beta. We still have a lot of work but the official opening is only a matter of weeks! We'll continue to work hard to offer the best possible content and offer you the ultimate gaming experience under Legion.
