Dear players,
It’s time to reveal a project that marks a new direction for Firestorm, and one we have been working on for the past year. With this project, we want to start treating legacy differently: not as a simple return to the past, but as a chance to revisit an expansion with years of feedback, hindsight and the intent to make it play closer to what it could have been.
BATTLE FOR AZEROTH: REFORGED - August 31st, 2026
Experience it the way it should’ve been
Everyone reading this will be like…
“But guys, BFA sucked!!!”
For a lot of players, yes. For others, not entirely. It is subjective, and we are not here to pretend the expansion had no problems.
For more than a year, we went through feedback, reviews, logs, videos and veteran opinions, then focused on the systems that caused the most frustration. The goal of BFA: Reforged is to keep the same blizzlike flavor, while fixing the expansion’s most controversial problems, making it more alt-friendly and more rewarding to play.
This is also our first real attempt at reviving one of our more recent legacy expansions in a different way. If the community supports this direction and the result proves strong enough, it may become something we explore again with other expansions in the future.
We also timed this project to offer something meaningful to play between TWW Season 3 and Midnight.
BFA: Reforged is meant to stand on its own, but it will also connect with the rest of Firestorm. Playing on BFA: Reforged will give access to exclusive cross-rewards, including mounts and perks for TWW and the upcoming Midnight realm.
Everyone starts fresh with Season 1 and content Patch 8.0, with future seasons unlocking progressively at a balanced pace.
MAIN CHANGES:
- You start directly at level 110 in Zandalar or Kul’Tiras, with 240 ilvl gear, four 22-slot bags, some gold and the necessary items for your journey. XP rates are x2, and every different class you level to 120 adds 10% bonus experience for your leveling alts, up to 120%.
- Azerite Power is account-wide: Your Heart of Azeroth level and progress are shared and synced across all characters.
- Rank 1 Essences are available at launch through vendors or alternative sources, and they are account-wide.
- Warforging and Titanforging have been removed: Disenchanting or scrapping non-Azerite gear now awards a currency used to upgrade your gear.
- Azerite armor, Essences and PvP gear are available from vendors.
- Major abilities are off the Global Cooldown again, bringing back faster combat pacing and smoother rotations.
- Modern Bonus Roll System: Bonus rolls now always give a guaranteed item, and cannot grant duplicates. Just like on Midnight, they cost 2x in Raids and just 1 in Dungeons. The current hard cap is 6 tokens / week. You can obtain 3 using the default method, while the other 3 may drop from Spoils of War loot cache.
- Reforge Azerite Traits can be used anywhere and is free of cost. Just open your item’s UI and click reset.
We also added a lot of quality of life changes: previous questlines are not required, Racial Mounts, Draenor & Legion Pathfinder and all Riding skills are unlocked automatically, and some questlines can be skipped after completing them once on the account.
Flying is available earlier too. You can fly after completing Pathfinder: Part 1, and further boost your flying speed by 300% with the Elixir of Soaring Winds, obtained in-game.
For endgame, we simplified the tedious dailies and AP farm with Weekly Challenges, similar to TWW. You choose from a pool of 6 quests split between PvE, PvP and World activities and earn huge rewards.
Island Expeditions can now be solo queued.
Mythic raids are flexible between 10 and 20 players, with enemies scaling their HP and mechanics according to group size.
Mythic keystones have extra options: right click your keystone to lower it, change the current dungeon and more. Many affixes have also been adjusted to a more modern design and behavior.
Raids also have Raid Renown. Defeating raid bosses grants account-wide knowledge points for that raid, with the amount varying based on difficulty. Inside the raid, players gain buffs and can activate perks that scale with their renown level.
There are also Daily Missions for BFA activities and Spoils of War Loot, including items such as Tertiary stat upgraders, extra bonus rolls and more.
If you liked Battle for Azeroth, this is your upgrade. If you did not, welcome to the redemption arc!
