Every class has it's own unique tanking stance, which allows you to get some special benefits which are needed for tanking. Monk has he's stance called "Stance of the Sturdy Ox" and it gives him few things, one of them is to take 25% reducted demage, and this one doesn't work and it's important, since instead of 75% demage he is supposed to take, monk actully take all 100%, and it's huge difference while you are in raid and getting hitted by boses.

I wanted to test this. I attacked Baolai the Immolator because he was the closest thing.
* Tiger:33254
* Ox: 25872
* Difference: about 20-25% Physical reduction
26519 divided by 1.25 (Ox) divided by 1.2 (stagger) = 17679. Roughly, it works.
The 20% comes from stagger.
33254*0.75*0.8=19952
33254*0.8=26603
I checked and the 25% reduction just work, Stagger seems to work too. I'm waiting for a way to reproduce the problem.

After doing some extra-checks, it appears Stagger and the Stance reduction works both well, but the damage value was sent to the player before Stagger actually applying, making a visual bug. This is now fixed on the PTR.
